HISTORY

On March 17, 1917, five women at New York University Law School took a pledge of sisterhood and loyalty and so founded the Alpha Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon. Delta Phi Epsilon is one of the first non-sectarian social sororities, and the only one founded at a professional school. Five years later on March 17, 1922, Delta Phi Epsilon was formally incorporated under the laws of the State of New York. Our founders are known as the DIMES because of their names: Dorothy, Ida, Minna, Eva, and Sylvia.

On November 23, 2014, the Gamma Phi chapter at St. Joseph's College was founded. The women of the Gamma Phi chapter value and and embrace Delta Phi Epsilon's founding principles, which include justice, sisterhood, and love. We actively support Delta Phi Epsilon's philanthropies: National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Delta Phi Epsilon Education Foundation.
